In addressing gender-based violence (GBV), COHRE (Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions) has focused its efforts on empowering marginalized and vulnerable young women and girls. Their approach involves delving into the individual experiences, ideas, and opinions of these individuals to understand what GBV means to them personally. This is achieved through various engagement strategies.
COHRE’s methodology includes facilitating dialogues and workshops that provide safe spaces for discussion and exploration of GBV issues. Furthermore, we conduct community sensitization engagements to raise awareness and foster a collective understanding of gender-based violence within broader communities, aiming to shift norms and attitudes that perpetuate such violence. This comprehensive approach seeks to empower individuals while also addressing the systemic and societal factors contributing to GBV.
